    Farmingdale, NJ was created from portions of Howell Township in 1903. Although Farmingdale is located in the center of Howell Township in Monmouth County, NJ, it is an independent municipality. As of the 2010 census, the population of the borough was 1,329 residents. John P. Morgan is the current mayor of this municipality, serving through December, 2015. Public school students from grades K-8 receive their education from the Farmingdale School District. Donna Phelps is the current municipal clerk. Route 33 and Route 34 both pass through Farmingdale, New Jersey, and cross at the Collingwood Circle. The municipal court located in Farmingdale routinely hears a couple of disorderly persons complaints, as well as a few rare traffic tickets & DWI charges every week.
