    Byram is known as "The Township of Lakes," and is a small township located in Sussex County, New Jersey. The township is often referred to this nickname because it is home to a variety of lakes that are spread throughout the township. While most call Byram "The Township of Lakes," others refer to it as the "Gateway to New Jersey Trails." This can be attributed to the Sussex Branch Trail; a 21.2 mile long trail located within Byram. James Oscovitch is the current mayor of this municipality, and serves through June, 2013. Joe Sabatini is the Byram Township manager. Byram is also home to many beautiful parks such as RIverside Park, Tomahawk Park and Neil Gylling Memorial Park. The municipal courthouse located in Byram hears only a couple of disorderly persons complaints, as well as an average of 20 traffic tickets & DWI cases every week.
