    The borough of Emerson, New Jersey is located in the midst of Bergen County, NJ. Emerson was first established as the Borough of Etna (the name of a railroad station in the town) in 1903 from portions of Washington Township. In 1909, the borough officially changed its name to Emerson, NJ. As of the 2010 census, the land area of Emerson totaled 2.4 square miles and had a population of just over 7,400 residents. The municipal courthouse in Emerson hears an average of 10 disorderly persons charges, as well as 15 traffic citations & DWI charges weekly.
